What it is

Tessera shows trade times in a way that matches how you think about your trading day - your timezone and calendar dates - so “today,” “this week,” and “January” mean what you expect on the Trade Log, in statistics, and in reports.

What you can do

  • Set your timezone in account settings (and per account where the app allows)
  • Filter the Trade Log, statistics, simulator, and Trade Review by start and end dates on the calendar you use every day
  • Use quick ranges such as today, last 7 / 14 / 30 days, or all-time
  • Provide a statement timezone when importing CSV files so entry and exit times land on the correct days
  • Understand why a closed trade appears in the period when it closed, not when it opened

How it works

Your timezone setting

Once your timezone is set:

  • Today means your local calendar day where you are - not midnight in another region.
  • Date filters on the Trade Log, statistics, simulator, and Trade Review interpret your chosen start and end dates in that timezone.
  • Reports can show a reporting timezone in their summary so you know which zone was used for session-style breakdowns.

If you trade on multiple accounts in different regions, check whether the app lets you set timezone per account; otherwise one global preference applies.

Picking a date range (what you see in the app)

In most places you pick dates the normal way: from and to on a calendar, plus optional presets.

WhereWhat you typically choose
Trade LogCalendar dates + presets (today, 7 days, etc.)
StatisticsSame as Trade Log - filters stay aligned
SimulatorSame date logic when you scope a run
Trade ReviewChart window by date or preset
ReportsStart and end date when you generate a report
Dashboard cardsPresets per card, or a custom range on the main summary

Use one place (usually Trade Log or statistics) when you want to answer “how did I do in January?” - then run reports or the simulator on that same period so the trade set matches.

Exit date rule

For closed trades, a date filter includes a trade when its exit (close) falls inside the range - not its entry.

Example: Opened 31 December, closed 2 January → counts as January when you filter January.

Open trades still show when you view open positions; exit-date filtering mainly affects closed-trade stats and lists.

CSV imports

When you import a CSV, you are asked for the timezone of the statement (e.g. where your broker stamped times). Get this wrong and trades can shift to the wrong day in your log - especially around session boundaries.

See Custom CSV import and Brokers overview for per-broker requirements.

Dashboard vs Trade Log dates

Dashboard cards mostly use presets (today, last 30 days, all-time). If you set a custom range on the dashboard summary, it may not match the exact same calendar days as a range on the Trade Log.

Practical tip: For journaling and “how did I do this month?” use Trade Log or statistics date filters. Use the dashboard for overview cards, not as the source of truth for a specific local month.

Preset timeframes

  • Today - from the start of your local day until now
  • Last 7 / 14 / 30 days - rolling recent window
  • All-time - every closed trade on the account (no date cut-off)

Limitations

  • Wrong timezone on CSV import puts trades on the wrong days - fix the import metadata or re-import.
  • Comparing a report to the Trade Log? Use the same account, dates, and timezone or counts may differ slightly.
  • Brokers record times in their own format; Tessera aligns them to your filters - if something looks off by a few hours, check timezone on import and in settings.
