What it is
This article explains what data Tessera shows after you connect or import a broker - trades, account labels, sync timestamps, portfolio curves, and live balances - and how that differs by broker type.
What you can do
- See when an account was last synced or imported
- Understand trading PnL only vs full balance + transfers curves
- Know what live sync updates for Liquid Brokers
- View cash transfer history where supported
How it works
Account picker
Each account shows:
- Broker lane and account code
- Label (custom name if you set one)
- Executing broker name (for imports)
- Last broker sync or last CSV import time
- Data source type: live sync vs CSV import
Use this to know whether numbers refresh automatically or when you last uploaded a file.
Trades and positions
- Synced/API accounts: Tessera pulls closed and open trades (and orders where the broker API supports it) on sync.
- CSV imports: Trades come from your uploaded file only; no automatic updates.
Open trades appear in the Trade Log; closed trades drive Statistics and reports.
Portfolio growth - important distinction
| What you see | When |
|---|---|
| Full account balance + deposits/withdrawals | Liquid Brokers with live sync only |
| Cumulative trading PnL only | Everyone else - OANDA, Binance, IBKR, cTrader, all CSV imports, Custom CSV |
CSV imports always use trading PnL only. Tessera does not reconstruct your broker equity curve from a statement CSV alone.
See Portfolio growth for how to read each curve.
Liquid Brokers live sync extras
With live Liquid sync, Tessera can also show:
- Balance and equity updates
- Unrealized PnL
- Today’s PnL
- Cash transfer history (deposits, withdrawals, transfers)
Only Liquid syncs cash transfers into Tessera today.
Other API brokers
- OANDA / IBKR: Trade sync and analytics; portfolio growth is trading PnL only (not full balance + transfers like Liquid).
- Binance Spot: Trade history from fills; open “positions” differ from CFD-style brokers; some balance features may be limited depending on API permissions.
- cTrader: OAuth sync with executing broker metadata on imports.
Limitations
- What you see is only as complete as your sync or import. Stale CSV = stale analytics.
- Binance and other APIs may not expose every field a CFD broker does.
- Display amounts stay in account currency - Display currency does not convert trade PnL.
