What it is
Tessera imports MetaTrader 5 history from a Trade History Report saved as Excel (`.xlsx`). There is no live MT5 sync in Tessera.
This differs from some journaling tools that accept MT5 HTML reports - Tessera expects the Excel report from History → Report.
What you can do
- Import MT5 Report → Save as Excel (`.xlsx`)
- Set timezone, asset classes, and executing broker name
- Import multiple MT5 logins (account number comes from the report)
How it works
Export from MetaTrader 5
- Open your broker’s MT5 terminal.
- Open the History tab.
- Right-click → choose the period you need.
- Right-click → Report → save as Excel (`.xlsx`).
Do not upload an HTML “Save as Report” file to this Tessera lane. Prefer English UI language so sheet headers match expectations.
The report’s Account: row becomes the Tessera account code. Company and server names are stored as metadata.
Import into Tessera
- Choose MetaTrader 5 → XLSX import.
- Enter:
- Executing broker name - your broker or prop firm
- Asset classes
- Timezone - IANA zone for times in the file (usually MT5 server time; Tools → Options → Server)
- Upload the `.xlsx` and import.
Tessera focuses on closed Positions / trade rows from the report - not a full cash ledger.
After import
- Re-export Excel and re-import for new history.
- Analytics use trading PnL only - see Portfolio growth.
- If chart times look wrong, re-import with the zone that matches the report clocks, not your local wall clock if they differ.
Limitations
- `.xlsx` only - HTML reports are not accepted on this lane (use MT4 for HTML Detailed Reports, or Custom CSV for other formats).
- No live API / investor-password sync.
- Requires an active subscription.
